We tried Target diapers for the past 2wks and are sad to report they were awful for us (first bad diaper rash and 2 bad leaks in one day while doing errands of all times lol). But we were loving the $$ being saved, we'd hoped to use them once the new baby was out of Swaddlers even to save all that money over lots of time.
We'd still like to try another generic brand but we're thinking one that has that criss-cross-y liner in it like the regular Cruisers did have. I read a ton of pkgs yesterday but none of them advertised having one that I could tell. Any ideas? I think for us even if we had to change way more often (to avoid leaks) it would be worth it to us as long as DD wouldn't get any more rashes.......which we are attributing to the lack of that dry weave liner.
Re: Any generic diaper brands have a "dry weave" liner?
I think I might have been lucky but I found a pkg of Cruisers last night at CVS that had it. They were not the new fancy ones that I have yet to see. I was so happy to see it again lol, I just don't want to pay even more for the premium Cruisers.
Wow! I'm going to have to officially do the math as well but in two weeks I saved at least $20 buying Target brand vs (old) Pampers Cruisers. So.......$40 a month x 12....that's a ton more than $150!
I remember doing a per diaper cost "analysis" very quickly and Target's were like .19 cents per diaper and Cruisers ran us about .38 cents? Now I'm curious if my memory serves me right.
It depends on if you use Cruisers or Baby Dry. I did my comparison when we where using Baby Dry's. We use about one giant box a month, if we are using Cruisers we use just a little more than one box.
Yearly Cost of Cruisers around: 531.92 (i did 14 boxes instead of 12, since one box of these wouldn't last us a month)
Yearly Cost of Baby Dry around: 455.76
Yearly Cost of Sam's Club Brand: 392.64
I will admit that this might not be the most accurate way to figure it out. Since we do a monthly budget and make purchases like diapers once a month, this seemed to make the most sense to us.

No idea why it posted twice. All of my comparison was also based on a size 4 diapers.
Roughly this is what I found per diaper prices to be at most major retailers. I went to a lot of stores trying to find the best deal.
Generic Diapers including Luvs: 16 to 19 cents a diaper
Baby Dry and Snug Dry: 23 to 25 cents a diaper
Cruisers and Supreme: 27 to 29 cents a diaper
Oh, I get you. This doesn't have to be down to the dime! lol
Maybe Sam's brand is more costly than Target's and that's where our diffs are piling up?
Let's see now........w/Cruisers (never used Baby Dry) we used approx 5 diapers a day x 30 days in a month = 150 diapers/month x .38cents/diaper = $57/mo or $684/yr.
Target's we used about 7 diapers a day x 30 days = 210 diapers/mo x .19cents/diaper = $40/month or $480 a year
Okay so the yearly difference for us was about $200. Not as much as I thought but still worth it if the diaper does the same thing. That's two trips to the beauty salon for me right there! lol
I also forgot, we rarely buy the big boxes
I know we should but when it comes to spending that much $$ on a big box of Cruisers we just always cheaped out and bought the smaller pkgs. We are also in RI so maybe prices are diff here.
I suggest you try Luvs. I use them for the girl and have never had a problem with leaks. They have a liner in them just like the pricey brands. They are only about $.02 more per diaper than Target Brand. But as you can see much cheaper than Pampers.
I really didn't have much choice, because Pampers on twins is just way too expensive. They work and are less expensive, that is a win win for me.
