i am so confused by her (as I am by half of this show!). I thought she liked Bill (after their initial confrontation in DC). and what exactly does she want to do with the casino / what kind of lobbyist is she? why does she keep saying pound of flesh? Yes i know the literary reference, i just don't get the reference in the context of the show. ok. explain!
Re: big love watchers, can y ou please explain sissy spacek's character?
I'm with you. I don't think it's being "fleshed" out well and is too confusing thus far.
However, I think at this point they are getting too Three's Company with everyone thinking Nikki is a different person. I'm about to expect a mysteriously obvious hidden door to appear and someone to pull off Sissy Spacek's mask, revealing Harry Dean Stanton, who would have gotten away with it all if it weren't for you meddling kids!
i also am totally thrown of by barb's now 'weak' character. she was portrayed as being the one holding it all together, but now she has done a complete 180---- but it's unrealistic and poorly written. and wtf is with the opening credits? it's SO melodramatic!
and why is "teeny" a totally new girl who is about 5 years older than the original??
I really liked this show the first season, and so far, this year is a huge letdown.
I agree about Barb. I think it would have been a lot more interesting for her to actually become a stronger character in the face of her excommunication. But I really want to see her completely go wild and have an affair with the hot guy from the reservation.
hhaha i called that from the minute i saw him! she is definitely going to!
i am also not understanding this senate race (it is SO odd and makes no sense) and barb's sister.... i don't get what their deal is in this!
i think barb is finally going to snap. i dont think she totally agrees with the whole polygamy thing but went along with it to keep bill.
they all have major TIP
and the sissy thing- i think bill might want to wife her up
Basically she is shaking them down. She is saying they can pay her to keep their casino free and clear of gaming board issues etc. that they don't have "yet" (she can cause them so they need her).
She did like Bill in a "oh I can shake this guy down" kind of way if you remember when Nicki told her in the bathroom about the casino and that look on Sissy's face.
When Bill went back in the room with the Indian dude (I don't remember his name). Bill didn't plead her case like he was pretending too, he told the guy hey let's just pretend she is a liar and thief.
So she went above his head to that older Indian dude that was the initial casino contact (forgot his name too) and propositioned him and got him to "hire" her to clear the red tape not there yet.
I am pretty sure she was behind Bill's mug shot being posted all over too.
I think the Senate race is completely asinine. They just have this weird need to up the ante on the Big Bad every season, like it's Buffy the Vampire Slayer or something. Not to slam Buffy, but they even joked on there about "Gee, what's the plural of Apocalypse?"
And the thing with throwing his partner under the bus to save his a$$ so that eventually he can come out of the polygamist closet? Bull$hit.
Barb's sister and her husband have always been involved in Republican politics so that is why they are there fot support.
Come on Mod is this your first season watching?
She is saying she wants her lb. of flesh because she was going to put in a good word for Bill to get the party nomination and she wants to be "paid" for it by lobbying for the casino.
The Senate race is ridiculous. I keep shouting to DH while we are watching that"they can't do that, the press would be all over it and their cover blown"!!!!
This season is by far the worst IMO. The whole Senate race thing just keeps making me say WTF. Maybe Amanda was right about the writers
.
I am also a little confused by the whole Ben situation, I don't think Bill kicked him out, he was totally planning to go for a bit and Bill agreed. I think Ben is being ridiculous.
I was thinking maybe this is going to be the last season but DH said he saw they are doing another. I kind of miss when there wasn't all this crap going on with Bill and it was more about their family dynamics, even though his crap is impacting them all in a huge way. Still a huge fan but not sure how I feel about this season yet.
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
That's exactly what I said! Don takes the fall for Bill (WTF Bill) and says that he's a polygamist and those were his wives on the payroll. Bill gets elected, comes out as a proud polygamist, and then what? Everyone just forgets about the whole payroll issue? They'll probably figure out that your wives were on the payroll too, idiot.
