hospital bag...what kind of bag?

Hi everyone!!! I don't have too much packed. I put my bathrobe, boppy, pj's and my own towel. They don't all fit into the bag I was planning... I feel like a dork but I put it all in a suitcase..

anyone else using a suitcase? my DH laughed at me.

Re: hospital bag...what kind of bag?

  • I used a suitcase...and I was sooo glad I did, cause they gave me soooo much stuff to go home with.

  • I'm using a really big duffle bag.
  • Yep, we have one large suitcase that will have all of our hospital stay stuff (clothes, robe, boppy, etc.), AND we have a shoulder bag that will have all the more immediate items in it, such as paperwork, cameras, wallets, etc.  When I go into labor, we'll only take the shoulder bag up with us, then when I am moved to a postpartum room, DH will bring up the large suitcase.
  • I'm planning on bringing my Vera Bradley large duffel, but I may end up with a suitcase once I actually get everything in there.  I think whatever is easiest.
  • i've got a backpack.
  • I'll be using a rolling suitcase.  We'll be bringing our birthing ball as well, so DH will have his hands full already and not want to carry a bag as well....and I'm a heavy packer!
  • I'm using a suitcase (carry on sized, but still a suitcase). Just packed it today :) ?It is already full, and there are bigger items that we will carry by hand (ie- extra pillows and/or boppy)
  • I got out my suitcase today to begin packing it and DH said "Are you seriously taking that huge thing?" I said yep and carried it down the stairs. He thinks I won't need it but I want to be comfortable in the hospital and I know I probably won't need half the stuff I'm going to pack, I would at least like the option to have it there. Also, it's roomy enough that I will be able to add things to it for when we come home.

  • I'm just bringing my vera bradley large duffel bag also as well as the baby's diaper bag w/her stuff (e.g., cloth diapers, going home outfit, etc.) ... I'm trying to pack light ... only the essentials ... and really trying to stay away from stuff that the hospital will provide ... like I'm not bringing my own pillow (not wure why you'd need one unless you have some special attachment to your pillow which I don't), not bringing pads (they'll provide them for you), not bringing birthing ball (my hospital has plenty), etc.

I guess the point is to use whatever will hold your stuff :D

  • If my son is half that cute, I'll be really happy!!!  How adorable is Maxwell.
  • Planning on using my small rolling suitcase for my stuff, robe, boppy, etc., along with the diaper bag with coming home outfit, baby book, etc. Also planning on letting the hospital load us up on whatever they have for us :)

  • We are taking our suitcase, laptop bag, camera bag, and our diaper bag.  DH is staying with me overnight...so he'll need stuff...and we'll need space for our boppy, my pillow, all my stuff, and the stuff that we get sent home with.  I don't think the suitcase is silly.

  • You'll get a whole kit of self-care stuff for you. I came home with a sitz bath, squeeze bottle, witch hazel pads, all kinds of stuff.
