3rd Trimester

What does back labor feel like?

Where do you feel back labor? I'm having back pain in my lower back. It's in the hip area. Nothing that comes and goes like contractions, it's just a dull ache.

Just normal aches and pains or back labor?

Re: What does back labor feel like?

  • when I had it, it was lower back pain. Companied with menstral cramping pains. Neither ever 'went away' maybe dulled slightly for a few then kicked back up.. But mostly a constant pain.

Woohoo! This is exactly what I have!

When you went to L&D were you contracting? Or did you wait until you could time contractions?

the pain never really let up and it was pretty bad.. Hubby called the dr and she said get my butt to hospital. They ended up giving me a shot because I was only 33.5 weeks but they said if I were 35 weeks they would've let me just keep laboring.

It was hard to keep "time" becuase it was sorta constant... But when I went and was hooked up the monitor said I was contracting about 2 mins apart

Good to know. I think I'll stay home since I'm "full term". They probably sent you in to L&D in order to get the shot.

If I go in they'll hook me up, check my progress, make me walk for an hour, and then check me again. If there's no progress, they'll send me home - regardless of my contractions. (At least that's been my experience the past two times I've been there...) I can labor at home (if this is labor) without having to walk around a boring old hospital, lol

But thank you so much for the info! That really gives me hope!

    Me too!

Did you hear Melissa&Eddie's water broke? She has our EDD, too. She was locked up, tight, too. And, here I sit at 4 cm and 80% with an inside baby!!

  • Mine was constant. About 2 hours after it started I started having contractions.
