So I was not due until March 4th and I have my bundle of joy already! Here is how he came into this world!
Jan.18th, 2010 I was placed on bedrest due to extreme swelling in my feet and legs. My BP was high but not terrible. Then one week later I was hospitalized for my BP. At this point the protien in my urine is at 30.
Over the next three days my BP got higher and stayed and the protien went to 300 then to 600. I was driven to Roch on Wednesday the 27th. On the way there I had a severe panic attack. I was able to calm down although my BP still stayed sky high.
The next morning they made the decision to induce. So at 9:12am they put that little pill in my cervix. They also started me on magnisum for the BP.
4 hours pass and I am 1cm dialated. WOO!! They put another pill into my cervix and another 4 hours pass. 2cm dialated!
It is now 4:30pm and they place the third one in. This is whe I start to feel contractions. Nothing to much more exciting happen. So when 9pm rolls around they check me and place the 4th one in.
Ok. So the contractions are starting to hurt a bit but I can tolerate. I can't walk around because of the bedrest they do let me sit in a rocking chair for a bit though. I watch Up with my SO and his mother. At this point my mom is sleeping at the hotel across the street so she can get some rest.
Its getting to be 1am and I have not eaten since Wednesday nor have a I gotten a good nights sleep for a week. My boyfriend helps me to the rest room where I break down. I am so tired, so hungry. The magnisum makes me feel like crap. I just want to give up so bad. He calms me down and brings me back to the bed. The docs come in around two and I am still only 2cm. They decide to use a foley bulb...OUCH!
What a foley bulb is if you don't know is it looks like an un-iflated animal balloon. They fill the end of it with liquid after placing it in your cervix. They then hang an IV bag on the other end to pull. At this point they also place another pill in my cervix.
The docs tell me the contractions will become a bit more intence and I should feel some more pain. To me that doesn't sound like they mean "Your cervix will feel like its being ripped from you and like an alien is clawing its way out of your belly button."
When I start feeling what they actually mean I scream. I am a screamer. My poor boyfriend doesn't even know what to do. He just holds my hand. He looks like he is trying not to cry. His mother makes th decision for me to get an epidural at this time. It was hard to sit still. My SO is the only reason I could. He sat in a chair at a distance(there was a nurse hugging the front of my body) just keeping eye contact with me and mouthed that everything will be ok. And it so was. I fell asleep right after they placed the catheter. (The foley blb fell out during the epi making me 4 cm)
I wake up around 5 and find out I am only 4 cm still. There is stress on the fetus and he is not getting enough oxygen. They started me on pikerton(sorry if my medical things are spelt wrong) and gave me some thing to help with the baby. They do let me know that potentially I will need a c-section. We call my mom and she arrives and I find out baby is doing better so they will see were things go.
8:00 am rolls around and the night shift doc comes in and tells me things look good and we will just keep waiting. Then not 2 min later the day shift doc comes in and tells me Connor isn't getting enough oxygen and we need to do a C-Section.
I am rushed into the OR and I cried. A lot. I was very scared. After they numb me up they bring in my mother. (SO was unable to be in the room. He was too scared and wanted some one in there who wouldn't panic).
After a lot of weird pressures at 8:58 am Connor Jedidiah was born. 5lbs and 3 ounces. 19.5 inches long. He was 5 weeks early but able to breath on his own.
He was in the hospital till this most recent Thursday and we are now home!
