I *find it tres bizarre when people put either of the following quotes on their kid's nursery walls:
"I have a hero, his name is daddy"
or, "I finally found my prince, his name is daddy"<---especially that one.
It's like saying, "Hey, LO, just thought I'd let you know, I'm your hero."
If I'm DS hero (or if DH is), I think I'll know that when HE tells US.
Re: I have an unpopular opinion
I have a hero, its name is coffee.
And I'm in love with your siggy.
I find it creepy/icky because aren't you supposed to MARRY your prince?
So um ... are you going to marry your daddy?
ICK ICK ICK. paging Dr. Freud!
"You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast..."
That's what always goes through my mind!
Me either.
Thank you! Hehe. It was extremely difficult to stop him from ripping the background down.
And JEN, ITA. I was trying not to go there, but yes, it skeeves me out.
I agree and I extend it to onesies that say "I love mommy". I used to refuse to put those on him. I mean, I feel like I am manipulating him into saying I love you or something. Also, it feels like it cheapens it somehow.
Weird, I know.
MIL bought SIL/BIL a plaque with that quote on it for their baby shower - "I found my prince, his name is Daddy" - and what you said was the first thing that ran through my mind.
They're so amused that my niece is a daddy's girl (they highly encourage it), but I just wonder what's going to happen when she gets older and realizes that 1) her daddy is hardly a prince (nice guy, but still just a guy), and 2) not all men will treat her like a spoiled princess just because daddy did.

I don't mind those, but DS doesn't have any. I prefer to dress him in clothes that say HE is loved by ME. I'd let him wear an "I love my mommy" onesie or whatever if it was a gift, but he just doesn't happen to have any.
Electra. When the girl wants her father, rather than the son wanting mommy.

Now that I know he loves me, I would. In fact, I made an I love Daddy onesie for him for father's day. But for some reason it used to bother me before he arrived. I mean, we hadn't even met yet and I was declaring how much he loved me.
I know that's stupid, we were bound to love each other, but it just felt weird.
Me too!
This exactly. Who is writing that on a nursery wall? Sounds tacky.
ITA
I have never seen either of those.
If I did, I would find them very odd.
