Where is your favorite place to eat out?

...and is it because of the food?  Or is it more because it's a place with a special memory?

Re: Where is your favorite place to eat out?

  • El Holeinthewall (not the real name, but that's what we call it)

It's local, casual, the same guys have worked there since eternity, the menu is always the same, the margaritas are stout (although I still haven't had one since DS!), we always go with friends and then run into people I grew up with because it's close to my childhood home.

  • I love Cracker Barrel for the food

And a local deli for their subs and because, this is gross, but I vomited all over their floor on my 21st birthday. They told me I had to leave and I said "but it's my birthday" and I must have looked pitiful because they let me stay.

    Ahhhhh....good times

  • Buffalo Wild Wings. The wings are good, but nothing to write home about. It's just an awesome hangout and always seems to be where we end up with friends!

  • food-wise, I love Outback.  Because I'm a carnivore & a sucker for bloomin' onions.  mmmmm fatty grease.

but Nate & I always go to the same local taproom on our date nights.  The burgers are delicious, they have a good beer menu, & they always mess up our drink order.  So it's kind of charming in that way.

  • Don Pablos and Red Robin...it's the food for sure!

  • Rock Bottom.

Hubby likes it for the beer, and I like it for the Mac 'n Cheese.

i haven't had a blooming onion in ages!!!!!

  • This local place down near the river.  It's an old house that looks like it could be abandoned until you go in and smell the deliciousness.

    Eggplant crab cakes

Fried green tomatoes with remoulade sauce

    Crawfish and portabello pasta

And during crawfish season, they operate a stand for their boiled crawfish.

    I'm ready for crawfish season.

Other favorite is the local college dive restaurant - best cheese fries ever.  And 160 beers ready for your enjoyment.

  • As far as chains, we LOVE Carraba's.

But I also love bar food and a good beer menu, and we have a lot of that here. We used to love a place called Flying Saucer, but haven't been since we quit smoking. I keep meaning to check and see if they have to stop with our new ban. (The loophole is something like they have to make 70% or more of their revenue from alcohol sales.)

Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • Montgomery Inn.  They have the most AMAZING ribs ever.  They're only in Cincinnati, so every trip back home I stock up on their BBQ sauce.

This reminds me of a steakhouse that is close to us that is in the middle of nowhere!  It looks less than appealing from the outside, but they have the most AMAZING steaks.

  • When I lived in Plano, it was Snuffers for the cheese fries and Mi Cocino for the food and the Mambo Taxi margarita's.  Here...well, I hate just about everything here...

damn, i'm hungry now......we need to do a trade-off, bengal - Memphis-style BBQ ribs for crawfish???

We used to have a Don Pablos & they closed it. Jerks!  I loved that place.  This is what sucks about living in a small town.

  • our default date night dinner is Bosco's, a local brewhouse.  we normally sit at the pizza bar (right in front of their brick oven, so i can be all toasty warm while drinking beer.

if we're going to eat with friends, we try to hit all the locally owned places.  sekisui for sushi, los compadres for mexican, the bayou for drinks and good patio weather.

  • macaronni grill.

both. i ADORE their food. their bread... ahhhhh!

and DH and i went there on a lot of dates.

sadly, they don't have one where we live now! Crying

  • Wendy's or Olive Garden. I'm actually craving them right now.

Sold.  I love all forms of BBQ.

My sister lives in Memphis...I've been told I must visit before she moves to DC in June.

  • Favorite Fast Food: Rally's /Checkers

Local: Deanne's Seafood in Kenner, La

General: Zea Rotissire and Grill and Razoo's (good drinks at both too) :)

you definitely need to come up here!  May is the absolute best time to be here...the Memphis In May festival is in full swing - if your sister has friends on bbq teams, the world championship BBQ cooking contest is the 3rd weekend in may.  you'll need a babysitter for that, though....it's not exactly kid-friendly.

  • My husband owns a restaurant so I should say his place...but I really love a restaurant called Solera in Minneapolis. Its a Spanish tapa joint and I am a glutton for small plates, yummmm
  • Gristmill...best chicken salad sandwich, potato salad and bloody mary's EVER...It's local & it's packed year round. It's right on the gruene river and looks like a giant tree house

Chains: Outback or Chamagaucha Brazilian Steakhouse

  • Cheesecake Factory for the food for sure!

Miso Salmon, Pecan-Crusted Catfish, Ahi Tuna, Da Vinci Pasta, Chicken Costolleta, Bang Bang Chix and Shrimp, Shrimp Jambalaya, the list keeps going....oh, and of course their cheesecake that I take home...hmmmm!
