DH was adopted as an infant by way of a private adoption through the courts and didn't find out about it until he was 23. He's had a few years to think about it and would like to find his birth parents and any siblings if he has them. To say the least his adoptive parents haven't been very cooperative with the information about his adoption or his birth parents. What they have told us we are not 100% sure we can trust.
Anyways we've petitioned the court to release the documents, but they do not have a biological parents signature on file to be able to release them. I figured the best way to start the search would probably be to figure out the process and who's involved in a private adoption. What books do you recommend about private adoption? Has anyone been adopted privately and found their birth parents?
I'm sorry if my post is a bit novice, I've been lurking for a while but just decided today to jump in and really get educated on this process.
TIA!
