Childcare options for PT moms

Hi, So far, I have been a work at home Mom, but I will now need to go into the office 1 or 2 days a week.  What are some childcare options for this situation?  Do day care centers accept children for only 1-2 days a week?

Re: Childcare options for PT moms

  • In my area I have not found a center that would take DS on a part time basis.  An in-home provider may be the best route.

  • We've been at two daycares who accept kids M-W-F or T-Th.  You can't, however, alter which days from week to week.  You could also look for a nanny share with another family who only needs part time help.

  • I work 3 days/week and have an in-home nanny.
  • We found an in home daycare to take the girls 3 days a week. Now my MIL cares for the girls. Your best bet is to call around.
  • I work 3 days a week and was able to pretty much pick my days. Our daycare center also does 1, 2, or even half days. In my experience, though, this is rare and as a pp said you may have more luck with an in-home daycare.
  • I work 3 days a week and was actually surprised by the number of daycares around that have that option available. I would just call around and ask!

  • It really depends on the center and the area.  My center does take part time but I know we looked at a different center and they were not taking part time although I recently heard that they started siucne enrollment is down with the economy.  I think you just need to start making calls to places near you.

  • Find a good stay at home mom - otherwise an in home center is probably your best bet. You're going to pay through the nose to go the traditional center route, I'm guessing.
