I don't get them. Maybe I am just blog stupid... why do girls give away prizes on their blogs?

And even moreso, why the hell are they advertising the giveaways on here? I see them everyday, no one ever replies to the posts... I know its a giveaway and they aren't "selling" anything but I would think this would still be against thebump's TOS, no?

Or maybe I am the only dummy not entering these things? LOL

Bloggers would do this to increase traffic or introduce people to their blogs. 

I can't speak about the terms of use question, though.  Not sure...

They just want more readers. It's a way to advertise their blogs, so they can make money off the blogs and/or get more freebies from companies.

 

To enter most of these 'giveaways' you must become a fan of the blog, or follow the blog, or twitter the blog or some such social networking bs. It wears me out.

 

I'm happy to enter a contest, I just don't care for all the following and commenting and txting and SIGH.

Also, the items might be offered by their blog sponsors - for them it may be a way of "paying" for an advertisement or endorsement.  Sponsers will give bloggers items to do giveaways/sweepstakes for this reason; it's advertising for them that looks like an endorsement.  The ins-and-outs of that would vary.

I'm with you - they're annoying and spam. I really wish people wouldn't post them.
