I have an appointment on Saturday for a BPP and growth u/s. From what I've read, it's just a NST with an ultrasound. If you've had one, what can I expect?
i am having my first of weekly BPP's until delivery today. i think it is just an ultrasound like pp said.
An NST is when they hook you up to the contraction monitor (belt around belly) and have you lay there for 30-to an hour to count kicks and/or contractions.
I've had 3 so far, and at each one I was hooked up to a machine where they monitored LO's hb and my contractions for about an hour. Then they did an ultrasound where the baby score points for certain things - muscle tone, practice breathing, movement, and amount of amniotic fluid.

I had one at 31 weeks and this was exactly what it is. They like to see that the HB fluctuates. The nurse told me that when LO's HB is flat, meaning it stays at the same BPM, it can be a sign a distress.
My OB told me there were 8 pts on the BPP that they look for.
