I was "that mom" tonight

Ughh.  So the kids are stir crazy and I knew it would get worse with the snow coming soon.  I decided to take them to the mall to walk around a bit, go in the pet store, etc.  Decided not to put Gianna in the stroller so she could get some energy out too.  Well it started off well but by the end Gianna was doing the rubber legs thing and Anthony was laying on his belly on the floor of Penney's saying he was taking a nap.  So I forcefully dragged the two of them out to the car.  Felt like such an utter failure.

  • i have been that same mom at the mall carrying the child out to the car.  i think it is some sort of parenting rite of passage to carry your loud  flailing child to a different location.  well, at least for some of us it is.

  • Don't feel bad. In fact I took the kids to the pharmacy with me this evening and they decided to roll the Diet Pepsi around on the floor. Honestly they are tired and hungry and I know everyone probably thought I was a horrible mom for not disciplining them (they are 6 and almost 5..not toddlers) but I just said to myself fuckit! They were not trying to be "bad" they were just being kids. So I just let them know when we got to the car that it was not a such a great idea. Anyway, my point is that kids are kids are kids and they like to do random stuff like pretend to take a nap on the floor at Penney's and roll 2 liters down around. We are not failures we are just guardians of works in progress.

  • I think we've all been there at some point (or at least that's what I tell myself!).  I've left with more than one crying child more than once.  Sorry it was a rough night...hope they got some energy out though!
