stomach hardening, but no pain?

I've noticed my stomach get really hard, like it does when I have a contraction (which I have not had very many), but there is no pain along with it...and then after a minute or so it will soften back up...anyone else have this??  Can you have contractions without pain??

Braxton Hicks don't normally hurt. That is probably what it is.

I've gotten those as well. Some of my contractions hurt like hell, some I only notice as my stomach tightening but no pain at all.

Those are Braxton Hicks contractions.  Fun times!

I would call it either BH's or baby moving.

I made this realization this week too.  OOH.  Someone (like my doc, or my 8 zillion baby books) should make it clear that BH don't hurt!

I agree - it's probably BH. I didn't even notice I was having them until my OB told me.
