1st Trimester

Is this possible

For some reason I forgot to write down when my period was.

I looked at my calendar and circled December 31st (sometimes I'd circle the date).

We did the baby dance January 9th.

I did a pg test on the 22nd and was a faint line and became darker over the next few days (I was on holiday in FLA)

I came back Monday and did blood work on Tuesday (23 days after ovulation - atleast a general idea of when I did based on the baby dance) and the number was 3050.

Could I have gotten my period on the 31st and ovulated so soon after? The 9th or 10th?

Sorry for the long winded question.....Doctor keeps asking (too early to date ultrasound - they wait till 7 weeks) when my period was....I thought around the 26th....?

Re: Is this possible

  • It is possible but you will probably only know for sure once you get the early u/s.  Do you remember getting your period on New Year's Eve??  Or having it during the holidays?  Maybe thinking like that would trigger your memory.  I know if I got my period on New Year's Eve, I would have been bummed!!  Haha.

  • There's a chance your cycles could change if you've recently come off of BCP. I would give your doctor the range of dates and then when they can do the u/s to date the pregnancy.
  • Sorry, I couldn't read it past "the baby dance."

Please just say had sex.  We are adults here.

  • i didn't just come off BC so that's out of the question.

I for the life of me just can't remember. ?i've looked at my calendar to see if something jogs my memory...so annoying?

  • It's been a while since I've been on there and that's what everyone use to call it..

forget the jargon, focus on the question?

Take some windex to your uterus' window so we can all peer in and see how far along you are than.

  • my question was simple...is it possible to have such a short time between my period and ovulation...not how far along I am.

If you want to be sarcastic, save it for someone else?

  • There are 60 year old mothers in Europe. There are women who go to the bathroom and pop out a baby. There's a woman who gives birth to 8 kids. How are we supposed to know what our bodies are capable of? You're asking everyday people if it's possible you ovulated after a certain time frame - sure you could have ovulated. Hell, my daughter could be ovulating in my womb right now for all we know. It's not all P&R here so if you can't handle it Babygaga might be a better site for you.
  • I think it is definitely possible to ovulate on cycle day 10 - maybe google around for more info on ovulation and cycles, etc. Not everyone ovulates on cycle day 14, and it's also very possible you ovulated sometime after the day you had sex. hth

    The short answer is yes.

  • Great. ?That's all I wanted to know.

  • And FWIW, sperm can live for several days, so you could have ovulated up to four or five days after having sex and still had it turn into a pregnancy.

  • Wow it seems theres at least one snarky b!tch on first tri, yikes!  Don't mind that :)  It is possible, and some of us are medical professionals and this board is for asking questions!  Congrats on your pregnancy!

Yes it's possible.  Some women even ovulate while they are still having their periods.  It's highly unlikely, but possible.  That should answer your question.  As for anything else, ask your doctor because my crystal ball is broken.

That's really difficult to get passed. You can simply say, "we had sex". We're all  grown women here, we know how we got pregnant.

Have they not suggested an internal u/s for dating purposes, to measure things and see.
