Anyone put any thought to this? I was thinking that when it is time to go to the hospital I want to eat something before going in, if there is time. Plus we were told that once you are admitted and in "active labor" you will not be allowed to eat. Knowing that some women are going for hours I want to get something. I also want to eat something bad, because it will be my last indulgence. After the baby comes I plan on going back to my good ways, before the pregnant sympathy junk I would sneak in.
I have requested that DH stop by the nearest Del Taco on our way in and pick up a bean & chees green chile burrito & a Supreme Chili Cheese Fries . I'm obviously not worried about pushing it out during labor.
Re: Your last indulgence?
LMAO!
DH has orders. I just hoping we don't have to be rushed to the hospital and I starve!
Are you kidding? I'm doing this too. I just want to make sure I have something to eat before I go in. Although I just want sushi and a meduim rare piece of meat.
My first advice is make sure it's something you don't mind puking back up.
But during labor I ate a lot of light things...granola bars, etc. Honestly that was all I wanted given the pain, but it helped to have something in my stomach the whole time.
I had GD so I was allowed to eat.
This. My doc said the reason they don't want you to eat is in case of nausea, which can occur naturally or when certain drugs are administered. I might go for a baked potato or something else starchy that was a comfort during 1st tri morning sickness, but I definitely don't want anything too gross to come back up.
I'm in the same boat with the GD so I'll be saving my splurging for afterward. Right now it's a toss up between pizza and pasta, but either way, I'm carb loading as soon as i'm done!
Hah. This is my plan exactly. I have a couple of friends lined up to bring me sushi post delivery!

I'm planning a med free birth, and plan to labor at home for as long as possible. My doula recommended avoiding really heavy foods because it's likely that I'll experience nausea or vomiting. She said she rarely works with a woman who doesn't throw up during transition.
We're also bringing food to the hospital (granola bars, dried fruit, nuts, etc) so if I want to eat, I can. If it turns out I have to have a c section I'll fess up and tell the doctor I ate, but I'm not going to starve myself during labor.
What?! I have never heard of this!
Sounds like something my DH would do, lol.
I felt sooooo Loved at the time! Its something we joke about now though! lol
