3rd Trimester

Please tell me that I can do this.

I really really want to take ds with me to FL at the end of the month (beginning of March). I will be approx. 32 weeks at the time. DS and I will have one check in bag that we are sharing and one carry on bag. I will have his umbrella stroller, but will gate check it. I will need to bring his monsterous car seat too, since the friend we are staying with does not have one for him. I am planning to just check it in (I heard you can do this w/o paying any additional fee) and I have a bag that I can put it in (made specifically for it), but I'm just nervous about carrying all this crap.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has taken a min vacation with there toddler at 32 weeks, but I'm starting to second guess myself.

DH isn't going because he is busy with working out of state (and besides he gets to go to warm places all the time because of his job...lol).

I need some encouragement that I can really do this by myself....lol.

Thank You!

  • you can do it! The warmth of Florida will be worth it.

Is someone dropping you off at the airport? A lot of places have curbside check-in so you won't even have to lug the bag and carseat very far. Then its just pushing DS in the stroller while you carry the carry-on

  • you can do it!  yes, you can check your carseat for no additional fee.  your son looks like he's at an age where he can listen to you and stay close even if your hands are full.  going to FL will be worth a little stress during the travel!

Yes. Someone will be dropping us off. Good idea about curbside check in. Can you do this w/o a ticket? (like when you have to get an e-ticket from those machines). Or should I just print out the reservation sheet that I make online?

  • You can also call ahead to the airline and see if someone is available to you for special assistance.  I did this when traveling with my grandmother, and there was someone with us the whole way, from the front door to the gate to help us around.  If they would do it for Grandma, I guess the would give you help with a toddler too!

Print out the reservatoin sheet and at curb side check in you will get the actual ticket. Also, depending on your airline, you may be able to check in before you get to the airport so all you would have to do is hand over your check-in and just take care of your bags. Have fun in FL! I would LOVE to go somewhere warm right now!

  • You can do it!  It sounds like you have a good plan for checking the stuff, but another option to think about is shipping ahead of time.  Is there anything you can send to your friend ahead of time?
