Invitation wording help

We are planning a surprise party for my MIL's 50th birthday next month.  Now that SIL has finally nailed down a location, I'm working on ordering invitations.  It's at 2:00 and we are planning on serving what SIL calls baby shower food (chicken salad sandwiches, fruits and veggies, pasta salad, spinich dip, etc.).  How do I word that into the invite so people know what to expect?

Re: Invitation wording help

  • I don't think you have to word it to indicate that you'll be serving food specifically - meaning you don't have to say on the invite that light snacks will be served or anything like that.  I think most people will know you're going to have food of some sort - just like at any kind of shower.

I think just having the pertinent information on the invite is fine, but that's just me : )

I agree with this...most people know that a 2 o'clock party is usually finger foods and don't expect a full meal.  I think you could get away with just the standard information on there.

    I agree too.
