it can be.. especially if youre not very close to either of them.  I brought my mom just because I love how enthusiastic she is.. way more so then I am. idk, if your significant other cant go its better then going alone.

My MIL was at my first one.... last one was me, DH and DD.

CHeck and see how many people your office allows back!

I think it is nice, they probably feel so loved to be included in such a big event.

My mom came to ours too (my MIL lives out of state) my mom cherished it and was so happy to be invited. I loved having her there too. Totally personal preference though!

i'm thinking about inviting my mom.  She hasn't been as thrilled as a typical mom is expected to be.  Long story about why but I figured if she saw the baby inside me, it might push her over the edge.

I'd check with your office before they arrive and make plans to be there. Some offices have a limit as to how many people are allowed in the room. Also, this may be a moment for you and DH to share. 

The u/s room at my OB is really small and it's only 1-person besides me allowed.

i don't feel weird about it but didnt know if the office would. we saw someone go in with DH mom and sis so i am hoping it is ok.

I don't think so but my Mom and MIL were at mine with DD.  We wanted them to be there but our situation was a bit different.  My MIL had terminal cancer so we really tried to include her as much as possible in the pregnancy (and passed away 2.5 months after DD was born).  My Mom was just over the moon excited as DD was her first grandchild.  It was really nice to have them there and get to see everything (the screen is so much clearer than pics).

My Mom will be coming to this big u/s.....I so wish MIL was here to be there too.

The big u/s itself isn't very exciting (besides the fact that you can see your baby, of course.)  The tech is there to measure everything about the anatomy of the baby.  Some techs tell you what they're doing as they measure, and some just let you sit there in silence for 45 minutes.  Finding out the gender is really only about 30 seconds of it.

If you want everyone to be there, I'd pay for a 3D and take them separately.

And, like a lot of others have said, some offices don't even let you bring in your DH, let alone 3 other people.

yes, we have actually already had four ultrasounds so i know they can be not so exciting! But mom and MIL are SO excited anyway. i hope the office doesnt put up a stink.

I think it'll be fine as long as your office allows it. I brought my DH, mom, dad and best friend. I thought it would be weird... but they were all in from out of state and wanted to come so I felt bad leaving them at home. Either way, it wasn't weird at all. Honestly, I kind of ignored them and just focused on DH and LO... it just made it more special that my mom and dad were so happy as well. Our office allows up to 5 people, which I thought was awesome.

five! wow! i have never seen any sign at our office. I am going with the dontdon't ask permission ask forgiveness plan and will see if they let us in. my body my insurance money my rules! the room is big enough. they will be quiet.

Totally not weird! I just had mine on Friday and my Mom and MIL came! I invited my Mom because she was anxious to see an ultrasound not having had one herself (some 26+ years ago!) and this is her first grandchild. I figured MIL would also be thrilled to see the baby as well. They were giddy with excitement. It was so cute. At one point they were crowding around the screen oooing and ahhhing. I had to remind them that DH wanted to see the baby too!

I think they felt really honored and special to have been invited. I'm really glad we included them.

Good advice about seeing if the office allows multiple people. I called ahead of time to be sure.

They told us we could have two other people in with us, so my mom (my best friend!) and my MIL will both be there.

It's TOMORROW MORNING AT 8:30am! We can't wait

My official "big u/s" was just DH & I, but we did a 3d/4d at a place that has a huge viewing room, and we packed that place out. My parents, MIL, SIL, BFF & DH's grandma. Honestly, I was glad we did. They were so thrilled. DH's grandma cried. She hadn't been to an u/s in years, and she was amazed to see my LO. It was a really cool experience, but DH & I are very family-oriented.
