Petite Moms-to-be: Where do you get your pants?

I am reaching the very limits of the bella band working with my work slacks and am in desparate need of maternity pant information.  I am very, very petite (small butt, hips, and thighs) and having a hard time finding maternity pants that work.

So far I have only found one brand, Japanese Laundry (or something like that) that fit in the butt, hips, and thighs.  I have tried Pea in the Pod, Motherhood, Gap, and Old Navy smalls and extra-smalls (if available) with no success.

Any suggestions?  Am I doomed only to maternity dresses?

Re: Petite Moms-to-be: Where do you get your pants?

  • Hmmm, well I'm 5'2" and Old Navy size 2 maternity fits me well. However, I'm not sure how far along you are. No maternity pants fit me until recently. I bought a few pairs of pants one size up from my normal pant size until I could fit into maternity. I also found a nice pair of size 2 black dress pants at Target that fit exactly like my non-preg dress pants but with elastic instead of a zipper/button. GL!

*Edit* Just saw that you're 17 weeks. Maternity pants may fit you better around 20 weeks.

  • I'm 5'1 and all my pants are from A Pea in the Pod.  I have the store brand and they come in petite sizes (ps,pm or pl).

  • Sears has a small maternity section but I was able to find some petite lengths there.  Also, Old Navy and Gap Maternity have some pants available in short/ankle length.

I tried the ps or pxs on yesterday and it was fine in the belly, but the front edges (out from where a zipper and button would be normally) had about 2.5 inches of extra fabric on either side.

unfortunately, length is not the problem because I have long legs for my height... it is the width of the legs/upper thigh/ butt areas that is the problem.  I tried ON and Gap, but even the smalles sizes were huge on me.

  • ON pants are way too big for me too.  I ended up just buying some super cheap jeans from forever 21 that had a little stretch to them so I could continue wearing my bella band.  I may actually make my own maternity pants from some old jeans.  I like juniors jeans better because they are smaller in the hips/thighs.

And I wear leggings as much as possible.

If I remember correctly, Gap carries 0 online but not in their stores.  The 0s worked for me--pre-PG, I'm 5'0", 82 lbs.

Ann Taylor Loft Maternity also carries 00 in some of their stuff.

  • I have the same problem. Motherhood swims on me.... I even tried some maternal america jeans and they were too big.

I have heard Gap has size 0 online which I am going to order some dress slacks in. I am not wearing maternity pants now- I just went and raided the clearance racks and got jeans and pants in a size up from my normal size and it is working for now.

I just splurged and bought a pair of paige maternity jeans (on ebay so it was only $100 instead of $200). I can't wait for it to warm up cause dresses are so comfy.

  • I'm 5'4" and I get stuff at Motherhood, I don't know about your Motherhood, but the pants sizes they have here are petiete, regular, and long in all the sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL) I wear petiete and they fit perfect, and don't drag on the ground, and they are way comfortable, and they do that same size thing for work clothes too.

    First, Gig'em!

Second, it sounds like we are a similar size.  I will try the loft.  Thx.
