Babies: 3 - 6 Months

When baby gets to 3 months

I am just curious, when does the amount of what they eat increase? I BF baby and I can't wait for him to gain some weight so we can let him STTN.  The every three hours is KILLING me.

Right now we feed him 60 ML (if we give him the bottle) I'm assuming this increases as he grows???

When did your LO grow enough to get the OK to STTN?

Re: When baby gets to 3 months

  • Once she regained her birth weight, we got the okay to stop waking her at night. She started STTN at 8 weeks (9:30-5:30) and now sleeps 7:30-6:30/7:30 every night.

  • We got the OK as soon as she had re-gained her birth weight to stop waking her at night. She has STTN since somewhere around 2 months (from 10pm-8am). I consider this luck though!

  • They never told you to increase the bottle amount by 10mL every day? By 2 weeks, I think my daughter was getting around 3oz (approx 90mL) every feeding, but they had me supplementing (which then turned into exclusively formula feeding....) since she was 3 days old.

Once your DS has reached his birthweight, you don't have to wake him. Don't assume he'll STTN, though. Most babies that age will still wake up every 3 - 5 hours, anyway.

Definitely this. It seems like everyone on 0-3 except you has a baby who is STTN but it's definitely not true. There are ladies on 6-12 whose babies don't STTN. How much they eat doesn't necessarily affect it; it's developmental and different for each child.
