this is generally how I make my spaghetti sauce... although I'm sure I don't do it exactly the same way every time. :)

saute 2 diced yellow onions for a few minutes in olive oil, adding salt.  add about 2 cloves minced garlic and saute for a couple more minutes.  add one large can whole peeled tomatoes (I think cento brand tastes best).  break tomatoes up with spatula.  add about 1/2-1 tbsp dried parsley and oregano or basil and stir.  simmer while pasta cooks, and season w salt/pepper.

I also add other veggies, depending on what I have that day.  for me the key is the sauteed onion and the good tomatoes!

  • Thanks! I'll have to try that out!

I make mine just like that, but I usually add a little red wine with mine.  I just like the flavor it gives.

  • mine's somewhat similiar - just can't do the garlic of course, DH won't eat veggies so I add turkey or VERY lean meat to ours.  It's been a while since I've made homemade though!!!!
