1st Trimester

*HeatherLily*

What other factors? I don't mean to sound dumb, but my DH and I are trying to plan it out but we're some of the first of our friends to get pregnant (on purpose) and I want to do it right. I was told to start prenatal vitamins when we're trying. Any other thoughts/suggestions?

  • Hi Whitney,

Well, I'd start with a thorough exam at the doc, with some general blood tests, if you are concerned about not being healthy.

I have hypothyroid, so my doctors monitored my thyroid levels closely to make sure the meds were the correct amount.

I've read that fertility specialists will tell you to cut out caffeine (I was already caffeine free for a year before we tried... but not for fertility reasons).

I eat healthy, whole foods and try to avoid processed foods. I have the following acquired (haven't always had them) food allergies:

    cow's milk/cheese

    corn/corn syrup

    pork

    orange

    soy

I see a homeopathic nurse each month. She does a body scan on me to make sure I'm getting enough of the nutrients I need. She's amazing! She's also the one who prescribed my prenatals to me. (Which I love & have been taking since November).

With that said, we have friends who were stressed about getting pregnant for years and the MONTH they stopped IVF, Inverto (all treatments), they got pregnant.

When I informed the doctors/specialists I see, that we were trying and their #1 advice was HAVE FUN making a baby. If you stress, you are only hurting yourself.

    Hope this helps!
