First Ultrasound Question.

I had my first appointment with my F/MD last night. He is sending me for a dating ultrasound tomorrow. Given that I am only 4 weeks are they going to be able to see anything? I keep seeing girls on here that go for ultrasounds but they are told it is too early to see anything. Is there any benefit to me going tomorrow?

It depends, but the doctor and u/s tech could not see much at my u/s at five weeks.  All they could see was the gestational sac.

I think that's kinda early..but I think you'll be able to at least see the sac and the speck of a baby.  I had my 1st ultrasound at 7 weeks and the baby was on track- very, very small.

At 4w5d we saw two sacs.  At 5w0d we saw two sacs and two yolk sacs.  At 6w0d we saw three heartbeats (one sac had ID twins).

So, you should be able to see a sac but not much else.

I saw my doc for the first time at just over 4 weeks (pretty much a few days after BFP) and she wanted to do a dating US too, but she's waiting until 6 weeks. She said if we did it much earlier we wouldn't be able to see much.

That's what I thought too. Weird!

I had blood work done at 6 weeks and he said that I could come back at 8 or 10 weeks to date the pregnancy.  I chose 10 weeks so that we could see more!
