an example of how common sense can be beneficial

i wasn't going to post another work story but i can't let this one go. a girl called to change her number. i told her about the fee and she flipped. she started saying she was being harassed so i told her i could waive it. fine. then i kept noticing pauses and she wouldn't answer me and i began to get annoyed. she started yelling at me to hurry b/c they kept calling and that's why she was clicking back and forth. i finally had enough and yelled, "stop answering the other line! if you don't want to talk don't answer!" it slipped before i could stopit but damn. how hard it it? common sense goes a long way.

Re: an example of how common sense can be beneficial

  • can't she just BLOCK certain numbers too?? What an idiot.

that's so nice of you to waive the fee!

  • Yeah, you can. Honestly I didn't think about it b/c she was acting such an ass. But a lot of times they will just start calling from other numbers to get around the block. I put a block on so her number won't show up outgoing and told her only give it on a need-to-know basis and be explicit with letting people know not to give it out. It's policy to waive for harassment. I'm not that nice. I charge if I notice excessive changes or I'm feeling rather b*tchy.

  • When you work in customer service, you notice the majority of the population is dumb as sh*t!

  • Ohhh! ok, I've never had them. :)

And yes, working with the public opens a whole new perspective on people.

This!! I also get the added pleasure of wondering how these kids graduated high school.

  • amen.  I want to ask them how they made it this long without the bigger fish eating them.
  • lol...you mentioned "horizon".  My friend who's mother is totally not "with it" has a phone and her mother is on the same plan.  My friend said they absolutely DO NOT want texting on their phone (her mother wouldn't understand it and my friend doesn't use it).  Well, for a couple of months her mother has been getting weekly or daily  texts from "horizon" giving her the weather.  Her mother has tried deleting them but doesn't know how to without opening them.  So...she gets charged...like $4 and some cents every month.  Yesterday my friend called the company and told them to please take texting off her mother's phone (and she gave the number) and to please STOP sending her weather reports!  Well, guess what?   When she went to use her phone a couple of hours later...nothing.  Won't even turn on (and her battery was charged).  It was late in the day and she said she was stopping by the company anyway today to have the texts taken off her mom's phone and would ask what's up with HER phone.  She is thinking they closed (or whatever) HER phone.  Her mom got another weather text this morning!!

BTW...I have "horizon" and have been very happy (our whole family is).  :-)
