Hello! I dont usually post on this board but my girls were born 6 1/2 weeks early. They are doing very well now, 7 months later. We are having early intervention out tomorrow to evaluate them. Does anyone have experience with this? Anything I should expect? Or be concerned about? Lauryn seems to be doing well. She is rolling both ways and can stand and sit with support. However, Ava is a little slower. She has not rolled at all and hates being on her tummy. She is able to lift her head when on her tummy but not for long. If anyone can share their experience, it would be very helpful. TIA!

Re: Early Intervention
I don't know exactly what the evaluation will be like in PA ... it seems like all the EIs use slightly different "standards". Her in TX they err on the side of catching as many kids into their program as they can. We asked for an EI re-eval because we were concerned about 1 area in DD's development. Her pedi suggested they come back out for just that one think (language). Well, they came out to do the re-eval and she qualified in ALL areas of development EXCEPT language. LOL We sure weren't expecting that AT ALL.
We started having 2 different EI specialists come out a few times a month apiece. They worked with DD on lots of different skills, and gave me lots of ideas and advice. They really let me set my goals for DD and decided whick skill were really important to us to work on (based on their advice and out lifestyle). For instance, when their sheets said that many babies start potty training as earl as 18 months, that just wasn't important to us and she wasn't showing signs of being ready. She still isn't at 26+ months. We aren't concerned. We focused on things that were more fundamental developmntally and let the other things come as she was ready for them ... not worrying too much about what was suppoed to happen according to the typical schedule. In all honesty ... it seemed like DD just had really big explosions of development and I don't know how much we can attribute to the EI. But they certainly didn't hurt.
From the survey I did it seems like you should get lots of different stories about EI experiences. MANY of the ladies here have used them.
