How many of your FB "friends" do you actually consider friends? Curious because someone just friend requested me that I went to high school with. I knew her, but we were never really friends. I've got about 10 people like that on my friends list. Everyone else is either an actual friend or a relative.

I would say my FB friends list is about 50/50, split. Half are actual friends, and the other half are either ppl I was close friends with in HS and aren't very close anymore, or relatives.

I recently defriended about 30% of my 'friends' for this very reason.  People I knew, but not well; people I went to school with a hundred years ago and wanted to catch up with, but that's it; people who just wanted more friends on their list.

I feel much better.

I'm not a terribly active FB'er.  I log on maybe once every other week and have fewer than 50 "friends", so I'm not just randomly adding people to my list.  However, there is someone I added because his name was familiar from high school.  After adding him, I looked him up in my year book and he is not the person I thought he was.  But based on the things he posts to me, he clearly remembers me--I just have no idea why we know each other.

(Not to give the impression h'se some weird random stalker--he is definitely in my yearbook, he's just not who I thought he was when I saw the name.)

about half.  I have some HS people currently being ignored b/c I didn't really know them well in HS, let alone now! 

There are quite a few people that I enjoy corresponding with now, though, even though they don't live nearby and we haven't actually seen each other in 15-20 years!

The vast majority, say 90%, are people that I was 'friends' with at one point in my life, high school, college, etc.  It is nice to see what they are doing now.  Are they still 'friends' as in I would call them up and chat?  No, not now, but at some point in my life I did.

My favorite thing about FB is catching up with my college friends.  We all live all over the world now and it is nice to see how everyone is doing.

Most are people that I am related to or have been friends with at some point in my life.

The more distant ones that I was on decent terms with-- I accept the requests, hide them, and then delete them a couple of months down the road. All they wanted to know is what I have been up to in the last 20 years, anyway.

90% of my list are people I am either firends with that I talk to a lot or family, the other 10%(a few people) are HS friends that I don't talk to. It really annoys me when people from HS just friend request you and then never say "hello" or "what ya been up to" or anything and I am about to delete one Hs friend that just did this, I feel like they are just checking out your life and can't even say hi...

I'd say 10-20% are real friends. The majority are old high school classmates, previous coworkers, and some of DH's friends (he doesn't have an account). I don't really do much on FB anyway so it isn't a big deal to me.
