chances of getting job?

So my dream job opened up!  It is within my current company.  I have already discussed this with my boss.  She understands why I would go for this position - she is just not thrilled about me leaving her side. She said she supports me and would give me a glowing recommendation.  I asked her what my chances were of getting this job ... and she seemed to think almost %100.  I dont want to get my hopes up ... because they are doing interviews in the next 2 weeks ... so I know they are not just looking at me.  I wish they were!  I guess I am just trying to prepare for the worst.  I really, really want this job!!!!

Has anyone interviewed within a company and got the job/not got the job.  I know I will be crushed/embarrased if this does not work out.

Re: chances of getting job?

  • GL to you!  I've moved several times in my company. At times I intereviewed for something I really wanted and did not get it, other times things fell in my lap. A big factor is who else is interviewing. Sure hope the stars align for you.

  • I've interviewed for a few jobs within my company...I just had one offered to me that I've accepted...in the past though I have not gotten an offer, and it isn't too bad.  Maybe a touch enbarassing for the first week or so (since it was within my current division)...but I would try not to worry...things work out...good luck!!
  • I hope you get it! It can be so hard to tell what will happen. Sometimes what seems like a slam dunk doesn't always work out and it's not even because of anything you (you as the collective) did or didn't do. It's so hard to figure out what a manager is looking for sometimes. I got the job I have now after they interviewed internal candidates and decided to go with someone new  (me) who would bring in a different perspective. Some of the people who didn't get the job still work in my office and they are great. It wasn't a knock on them, rather it was my boss who wanted someone with a fresh outlook. Good luck!!!
