Success after IF

What do you use for toy storage in your living room?

I'm at a loss right now.  I've looked everywhere and nobody has anything that is big enough for all Ella's toys.  I've thought of the rubbermaid bins, but we would need like 4 and they just look cheap.  What do you use?

  • We bought a toy box from Albeebaby in a similar shade of wood to our entertainment center.

We also have some canvas baskets from target that fit under the coffee table.

  • We have a big ugly toy box in the living room. And it doesnt hold everything. We also have baskets lining the walls. And the bigger toys also line the walls. Even when it is clean it looks like a disaster! Lol.

  • THIS but with neutral bins. I have 2 extra bins that I keep put away and rotate them in and out. We also have the middle spots open for books, as Ava has TONS of books.

It's not perfect, but it makes for a quick pickup, and she loves to pull out a bin and just dig thru the junk.

  • a mix of baskets, canvas bins, and a new bookcase that we just got for some things that matches our entertainment center.

But even then, there are days it looks like TRU blew up in my living room.

Hmmm this looks nice.  I'll have to bookmark it for when we need toy storage.

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • My cousin (DD's godfather) gave her a big wooden toy chest that he stained for Christmas so we use that.
  • We have a storage ottoman like this in our LR (it holds a lot), then Cal also has a toy box in his room made out of woven grass(?) - sort of wicker looking, but not really.

  • We bought a leather storage ottoman and it is wonderful! It holds a ton of little toys, books, and stuffed animals, but is still a fuctional part of the living room. It also doesn't have any sharp corners, so it's safe!

This isn't the exact one, but it's a lot like this:

  • We are slowly moving toys out of the living room and into their bedroom. Their birthday toys all went into a soft-sided bin (a huge one) that stays in their closet, and then their kitchens and play food went in their room itself, with a small soft-sided bin on the floor to hold the food. Books are also in their room hanging in one of those organizers that hangs from the door.

In the living room, we have set it up so that one part of the living room is the toy area. We have their easel on one side of it and the other side has one of those wooden shelving units with plastic bins. That way, we can keep their toys organized. Bordering that area is a sofa table, so we keep their big ride on cars and one large rubbermaid container full of larger toys under that. They also have one large rubbermaid container full of blocks under there. Then, their bounce and spin zebra is in that corner. So, basically, all of their toys are kept to one side of the living room and we're slowly moving more and more upstairs to their room.

I took this pic right when we moved in (we've since re-organized a bit and gotten rid of the crawl and cruise jungle), but it shows the general idea.

  • Thanks everyone!  We are doing a makeshift one considering no stores around here carry anything adequate.  I'll take pictures and show you all later:)

  • We just use basic totes.  We've got 1 in the family room and 2 in the bonus rooms.  They are not that fashionable but they do there job which is keeping Ben's toys out of the floor while he's not playing with them.
