First 3mo were a breeze (it was summer). Then the following 4mo were pretty hellish (mostly because my oldest 2 like to fight & constantly be all over the baby & they were sick a lot). The level of love & affection for the baby is way over the top...I am staying "stop", "leave the baby alone", "get off your sister", etc near constantly. Now in the past week or 2 it's getting pretty good again. I think the ages are a HUGE factor. Next year when DD#1 is in Fulltime Kindergarten, DD#2 is in 5 mornings preschool & DD#3 is home w/ me it'll be a breeze.

we went from 2-4, but it was still far easier that 0-1 and 1-2. The older 2 play great together, and I can spend/enjoy lots of baby time when the older two are content playing. I do have to agree with one pp that my DD1 (2 yrs) is way too smothering to the babies. She is always kissing/hugging/patting heads/covering up.....sometimes she makes me crazy!
I'm going to be the odd one out and say that 2-3 was the hardest transition for me. 0-1 was not a very difficult transition for me, and I'm always shocked when people say that was the hardest. Sometimes I daydream about the time when I had just one baby and he would sleep in the stroller while I shopped, ran errands, or just met friends out for lunch and "playgroup." Those things became harder to do with 2 and pretty much impossible with 3. We do get out of the house a lot, but there's no leisurely strolling through the mall with a sleeping baby.
I may have had more trouble with #3 because my PPD got worse with each baby.
