T is not gaining his weight back very quickly and my Pedi suggested I add a feeding so my dh went to pick up some Fenugreek for me at GNC. The sales lady gave him a copy of an article and highlighted a portion that states: "Commonly, the sweat and urine of someone taking fenugreek smells like maple syrup. Some say this is a sign that you have reached the right dose."
So....did anyone ever achieve the "maple syrup" smell? Will this really happen? We've been joking about it since I started taking it a couple of days ago....but so far no maple syrup.
Re: If you take/took Fenugreek

Oh yeah!!! It doesn't take much for the maple smell to come in. To me it smelled like licorice (I effin hate licorice too, so it sucked).
I had to take 3 pills, 3 times a day, so 9 pills in all. It depends on the dosage of each pill though. If you take it w/ Blessed Thistle paired, the fenugreek is more potent (or so says one of my Lactation Consultants).

You know what's weird, I was taking 3 pills 3 times a day and I NEVER smelled like maple syrup. I wonder why! Course, it didn't work in upping my supply either. Maybe they go hand in hand.
I just had this convo with my LC today because we are struggling with weight gain supply issues. YEP! My LC said you may need to up your dose if you are not smelling like maple syrup within 24 hrs. Not to be judgey, but she also mentioned specifically NOT to buy it at GNC and to only buy it at Whole Foods, natural food stores or an herbalist. She said there is no quality control at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe etc...
She also said Mother's Milk Plus is her top recommendation for herbally upping supply.
