3rd Trimester

update...my end is near!

we had our 38 week appt today and dr scheduled a c section for monday February 8th.

i know everyone gets excited and is like "i cant believe it" but i really just am beside myself excited and i literally cant picture myself going into the hospitol and coming out with a baby! we are so ready for her to be here. we were ment for this parenting bit! :-)

Iam annoyed though... i feel a vent is needed.

i always come out of that dr's office with more questions than useful information. its not like i forget to ask the questions. i go in with a notebook full of them....my dr is just so vague. and sitting here and thinking about i just realized ....

i have no idea what to expect with this whole c-section thing! how does it work? does the dr that ive seen my whole pregnancy actually do the cutting and pulling baby out? .....

any help or information would really put me at ease..and id really appreciate it!

Re: update...my end is near!

  • Why are you having a c-section?

I'm suprised the dr didn't go over everything with you. I'm sure every office is different, but at my place the dr (drs) you see are the one's doing the cutting. My office has a bunch of dr's and I've tried to see just about all of em....

You might get better answer's if you, google or youtube c-section. They cut your tummy and uterus open and take the baby out. You're totally numb and don't feel anything... But it IS major surgery.

  • I'd call or write your doc with your questions.  Every hospital/practice is SO different!
  • I would also be interested in why they are scheduling a C-section, especially @ 40 weeks. I would definitely call the OB's office and request an appointment to discuss your C-section. The idea that you are 38 weeks and they haven't explained things to you baffles me a little. That said, this board is full of ladies(including myself) who are more than happy to answer questions about what to expect in recovery and such.GL!
  • the c section is because i get the cases of shingles. currently i have shingles on my legs and the dr feels it would be safer for the baby to take her out c section so that shes not exposed it in any way.

because of your suggestion i youtubed...sitting next to my dh...he got sick. lol i can take blood and guts and it was actually comforting for me to see how it works. he just freaked out. but it helped. thank you!
