Oh yes. . . my hair is still falling out and LO is almost 6.5 months old. I'm hating it.
Just one of the many joys of the postpartum body. )
You may want to make sure that hair does not get wrapped around your LO's fingers. Individual hair strands can be harder to see but can tighten around little fingers and hurt. Just a bit of advice that was shared when I started shedding. . .

I lost so much hair, which was already thin to begin with. I used to cry in the shower pulling out big chunks of it. It didn't stop until the girls were about 6 months!

I lost a ton after our twins. Although nothing made it "better," Nioxin really helped, as did extra iron. About 6 months pp I was still having a lot of issues (health issues, not just hair) and ended up having an iron transfusion, which also helped my hair immensely.
After the twins were born, everything has gone downhill! I have had so many rashes and hair loss like crazy. Finally, at 5 months the hair loss is slowing down (rashes still itch even after meds). I just still feel like a health mess. I'm giving it 6 months like the dr. said to have everything back normal.

I've never heard of an iron transfusion! Wow! I guess I could easily take an iron pill every day to help the situation.

Yeah, I had some pretty screwed up blood for a while after having HELLP. The iron supplements just weren't cutting it (my RBC was okay, but my iron levels still weren't going up), and after being on supplements for 6 months they were doing bad things to my stomach anyway. The transfusion was the best thing that happened to me, health-wise!
If you can handle the supplements, though, I'd def. consider them (if your dr says okay of course!)
Yes, totally normal! I had bald patches - no exageration! It eventually stops falling out and starts growing back. It took about a good year before I didn't have to hide little pieces of new growth!
If it is any consolation, my hairdresser said that she has had clients that lost a ton of hair with their first pregnancy and none with subsequent. I'm hoping that is the case with me!

Thanks for the heads up!
