Does anyone have an example of the letter you sent to your Senator or Representative? I've looked mine up and while all 3 are co-sponsors of the 2 adoption credit bills, I wanted to send them a letter thanking them for their support of the bills. I just have no idea how to word it!
Any examples would be greatly appreciated!!!! I really just need something to get me started.
Thanks!!
Re: Example Letters you sent to your Representatives...
Here is what I sent:
Dear Senator:
I am writing to ask you to support The Adoption Tax Relief Guarantee Act of 2009, H.R. 213. The current Adoption Tax Credit is set to expire in December 2010 unless Congress votes to extend it.
My husband and I have always had plans to adopt but when I was forced to have a total hysterectomy at the age of 26 due to endometriosis, adoption became the only avenue through which we could grow our family. With the average adoption costing $25,000, we were wondering how we would be able to afford it and we were so excited when we found out about the Adoption Tax Credit that would help offset our adoption expenses. I am pleased to say that we brought home our baby girl on June 22, 2009 but will likely not finalize our adoption until January 2010. Without the Adoption Tax Credit, this adoption would not have been possible. We also want to have more children but without the credit we do not know if we will be able to afford adoption again.
I am requesting that you please support The Adoption Tax Relief Guarantee Act of 2009, H.R. 213. There are countless families in the US who need financial assist to offset the costs and fees associated with adopting a child. Please support this Act!
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
