Anyone's agency do group home study sessions?

Hi everyone,

My husband and I have applied to an adoption agency for domestic adoption. We had an educational course (required) in January and are now coming up on our first home study session. The way our agency works is you are put with a group of 2 or 3 other couples and you take your education course and your first two home study sessions as a group. Then the agency comes to your house to do that portion of the home study.

I have confidence in our agency and I personally know people who have used them and are happy, so we really didn't question that portion. What I should have asked though is how is it possible to do a home study as a group? I *think* at the first one they give us all of our paperwork and we go over what they need from us. Not sure what else though.

If anyone knows how this works please let me know!

It sounds interesting, but I'd want details on exactly what "homestudy" material they'll be covering.

A vast majority of the material discussed during our homestudy was pretty personal - including some very private stuff about infertility, childhood, family, etc. - that I would think has to remain confidential.

But perhaps they are just going to cover home safety, CPR training, and other non-personal stuff in these sessions?

The agencyI visited this weekend does "weekend intensives" where you get a lot of the homestudy done in 2 days. You do some stuff in groups, but the personal and couple interviews are done in like break out rooms. You also work on your birth mom letter and website during this weekend if you go this route with them. You can also choose to do everything one on one, but the weekend gets you a "jump start"
