I just want to make rice with cheese and broccoli in it. Just like the rice-a-roni packs, but homemade and minus all the MSG/sodium.
TIA!

Re: let's break some tension - looking for a recipe!
But why do you need a recipe when you already know what you want to go in it?
ETA: I don't mean for this to sound snarky.
Package of frozen broccoli (or fresh)
Shredded cheese (however much you want...we use 6 oz)
Minute Rice (we use Uncle Ben's whole grain)
1 can of heart healthy, low sodium cream of chicken/mushroom/whatever soup
1 can-full of milk
Mix everything together in a casserole dish then bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
LOL, i know that does sound kind of weird..but I don't know the right amount of stuff. I want to use "real" cheese so I don't know how much milk, etc. I guess I could just guess and adjust???
woot woot! thanks!
Ok, now I feel dumb for making my "why recipe" comment. This sounds yummy!
I make a cream sauce (butter, flour, milk, salt/pepper) and add cooked broccoli and cheese. Then I fold in cooked rice. If I want to bake it, I also add a beaten egg, put in a greased casserole and top with buttered breadcrumbs.
LOL, no offense taken!
hmmm this sounds good. How thick do you make the cream sauce? as thick as gravy?
Your cream sauce sounds much better than my can of soup!
Yeah, pretty much. If I'm going to add the egg and bake it, I might make it a little thicker, but not much.
