if you date bottles for daycare, what do you use?

I have been using a sharpie, but it is a PITA to clean off every day and write the new date on.  DH suggested masking tape, but that seems like just as much of a pain to put on and take off every day.

Yes, this only adds about 5 minutes to my morning, but I hate it.

Any suggestions?

  • I use blue painters tape and it comes right off at night

  • Masking tape is not a pain at all.  It's really easy.  Each baby in the infant room at my center was assigned a color tape that we had to use to label all of the bottles, to help prevent any mixups.

Have you tried making your bottles at night?  DH and I worked together each night to get the bottles for the next day -- he cleaned that day's bottles and my pump parts, while I made and labeled the bottles for the next day. Doing it in the morning would have stunk.

  • We have been using masking tape too.  We prepare the bottles teh night before and do it then.  We use inchbugs for putting his name on them -- I wish there was something similar for the date.

This. Masking tape comes off very easily each night. Also, have you asked your DC if you have to date the bottles? I asked mine last week and they said we don't have to since we take the bottles home each night and bring fresh ones every morning.

  • We used to print labels on plain paper, cut them into strips, and tape them onto the bottles with regular scotch tape.

    same here

  • I use masking tape and I fold the end down a little bit to make a little tab so it is really easy to take off.

Also, I do this at night because I get too busy in the mornings otherwise.

Thanks!  I do most of my housework in the morning.  DH has to be at work at 5am, but I don't have to be here until 8am, so I go to bed with him and get up with him.  I use that time in the morning to make bottles, prep dinner, do laundry, etc.  It really isn't a time issue.  It's an annoyance.

Painters tape is a great idea!  Thanks!

  • I put a piece of scotch tape on the bottle and/or cap and wrote the date in Sharpie marker on that.  The tape peeled right off.
  • I use a Sharpie.  It comes off with rubbing alcohol. It also scrapes off with my finger nail.
