Preemies

and more on the monitors...

I talked to the monitor person today and asked what happens if we just decide we don't need the apnea monitor anymore, even though the doctor seems to think we should go another whole month.  (DS has had no alarms in weeks, except loose lead.)  She tells me that we would have to sign off that we refused to use it, and that in the future if DS was treated for any apnea related illness that insurance could deny the claim because we refused medical advice.  hmmm... seems like a racket to me.

Re: and more on the monitors...

  • We signed for DS's monitor to be taken off.  He had been on it 3 months with no issues.  The pedi said the NICU docs had to decide to take him off and the NICU said it was the pedi's call.  I was tired of it and he was starting to move all the time and make it go off constantly through the night.  Ugh, I hated that thing.

  • i signed the AMA form. DS didn't have one legitimate alarm in the entire time we had it - for about FOUR months. when i turned it in, i asked the guy about a hundred times to make sure that they would download the info and send it to the neonatologist, and he DELETED it. a month worth of data. gone. i have never, ever in my life been as furious as i was at that moment.

so we got put back on it for a week. no insurance problems. i call shananagins.
