30 week appt. & weight loss

Hey Ladies!

I had my 30 week appt. today after I spent the last weekend in L&D due to contractions and my cervix was dilated to 2cm.  I got the steroid shots, fluids & have been taking procardia ever since.

My doctor today said that everything felt the same and I didn't dilate anymore. Phew that was a relief to hear!  My b/p, urine and everything came back, but one thing that concerned me was that I lost 3 lbs from last week.  I know the 3rd trimeter is so important for weight gain for mother and babies.  My doctor didn't say anything, but has this happened to anyone else?

I thought I was eating enough, but maybe I should add an extra snack a day or something.

Anyway, I will be getting weekly appts. with my OB and weekly NST's with the MFM clinic from now on.  I hope I can keep these babies in me at least another month, hopefully longer!!

    I don't know what to say about the weight loss. but an extra protein drink certainly couldn't hurt!!

  • Wow, 2cm, but glad your babies are both staying put.  The extra monitoring should help you feel more at ease.  Rest up and have a protein shake as pp said :)

  • I had a lot of trouble with weight gain starting around 30/32 weeks. I would be down 3 pounds one visit, then up 3 pounds, then down, then up. It's like my weight just stayed exactly the same the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy.

     My OB would tell me to try to get it back up, but no matter what I did, I just couldn't gain weight. I mean...it was Thanksgiving and Christmas for crying out loud!!! LOL! 

    My MFM wasn't concerned though. The babies were still growing just fine and he said that he was fine w/ the amount of weight I'd gained total (30 pounds total). He said it was "conservative, but fine". 

    If the babies are growing well still, don't be overly concerned about it. But try to sneak in an extra snack. add some higher calorie foods to your diet (throw some flax seeds in your cereal or something), etc.
