With all the posts about GTG's on the boards - I have a vacation question for you ladies: We'll be driving from Vancouver, BC to Seattle in early March. Any suggestions for where we can stop on our way for a night of two? We have 6 days total and I don't know if I want to spend it all in the city.
I've heard Coupeville and Bainbridge are nice places to check out.
ETA: If anyone would want to get together in these places - I'm totally open!! Would love to make friends!
Re: NIFR: Seattle?
Downtown Seattle was the best! We stayed there for 4 days last year, and had a blast. We are sooo going back there again this year! Everything was within walking distance. If you plan on going to downtown, make sure to check out:
Pike's place (eat, have fun, walk around, buy stuff, buy smoked salmon! They have free tours on weekends which is totally awesome)
Original Starbucks at Pike's Place
EMP/Science Fiction Musuem (we saw Star Trek exhibit there)
Downtown Seattle Underground Tour (this was my fav - they take you on a tour underground explaining how the city was born)
Walk around Pioneer Square (shop, eat and check out the architecture)
Thanks shoe! We'll be sure to check out those places!
Nikki - I know!! I lived in Vancouver as a kid, but DH and I have been wanting to go to Seattle and Portland for a long time. We'll have to go back for Portland.
Thank you IVF for our little miracles!!
I live in Seattle, and have made the drive to Vancouver BC a few times. There isn't a ton between the two places. There is Deception Pass which is pretty but in March might be a little chilly. In March the Tulip Festival may be going on in Mount Vernon you might want to google that. It is very, very pretty! And Mount Vernon is a cute town.
Keep in mind when you're in Seattle you can always catch a ferry and head to the penninsula as a day trip, there are neat places over there too Sequim, Hurricane Ridge, Port Angeles, etc. and the ferry ride is a unique thing to our area.
Once in Seattle you definitely should do Pike Place (of course) eat at Lowell's for Breakfast in the Market YUMMY! The Underground tour is very cool. Go to the top of the Smith Tower for great unique views of the city. Also going to Kerry park on Queen Anne for great views of the city.
That's all I can think of for now. Have fun!!
Number two
Again, I agree with Pike place market and the piers. I love going on the weekends to just walk around and sample things and see the people. I suggest eating at the Crab Pot on the pier.
Go to EMP and of course the Space Needle. I suggest trying this little place called Beth's Cafe if you like omeletes and hash browns. DELISH! They are known for their 12 egg omletes (don't worry there is a 6 egg)
They are open 24/7 just don't go after bar closing times, it's PACKED and they are not big. They have been on Foodnetwork a few times.
I am very nervous about meeting people off the interwebz, I would have to debate it.
ETA: I would try and go to Mt. Rainer too. It's about 2-3 south of Seattle. Lovely drive, I love the scenery. I forgot to add a place...

You got some great suggestions which I recommend too, I live just a few hours from there and go all the time. If you have time there is the best outdoor mall in the U-District, it's worth leaving downtown if you have the time! Have Fun! Oh and Bainbridge island is really cute and the Ferry ride is fun because you get such a great view of the city
