Missing work- Sick Baby

I feel so torn- I feel guilty for not being at work (school- I am a teacher) and I would feel guilty if I were at school and not home with my sick baby.  I missed two days last week and two days this week. I feel like such a bad employee this year but what else can I do :(

  • Poor you and poor baby! Can your husband stay home with her?

  • I got written up for taking so much time. It really really sucks. If your DH can take some time than do that.

  • That is so hard.  We've had a couple of times like that, and we try to split the staying at home.  We don't have any family close by, so we mostly have to do it ourselves. It sucks.
  • This is a tough situation all the way around!  Probably my least favorite thing about being a working mom.  See if you can trade off with DH, or have a relative come watch her?

I sent DD to daycare today (bad cough but no fever, very clingy and sad) but I really wanted to keep her home.  Just too much going on at work and we're off on vacation next week.

  • This job does that to people. I am sick, but feel guilty about taking off because of how the students behave. But yeah, try to switch off with your DH. We do that.
  • DH can't do it. He has a very intense job and he has to be there and if it came down to it and one of us were going to get fired because of taking off work, we need his salary much more than mine. err. Just got back from the doctor: double ear infection, virus, yeast infection, and hives!

  • poor baby! i hope she feels better soon.

I feel the same way. DS is sick and I am staying home today. Is your boss very understanding? Is there any way you can 'make up' time. I know it's hard in a school setting.
