New exercise routine

Is it ok to start exercising in your first trimester after taking months off such as walking on the treadmill, nothing to strenuous.

Re: New exercise routine

  • If you're just walking I wouldn't think that'd be harmful. Actually beneficial. I was jogging a mile anywhere from 3-7 days a week up until a couple months before our BFP. Oral surgery for wisdom teeth followed by bronchitis had me on my butt for a couple months. So I'm not getting back to jogging. I'm sticking to walking my same jog path that same amount of times per week.

  • Walking is great!  Running can be too hard, but you are good with walking.

  • FWIW a lot of women are so ill or tired that they have trouble keeping the pace in 1st tri.  So, many start back up in 2nd tri when they are feeling great.  So, yes it's okay, just start slow and work your way up.  As long as you're comfortable you shoudl be fine.  GL.

PS~I was put on PR from 6-10 weeks pg, and was running by week 12 and ran all through 2nd tri.  I was fine, and felt great, and my doc approved.
