I think we're matched..I'm about to faint

We just got a call that a BM picked us! We're supposed to talk to her tonight.

What do I ask? What do I talk about? I'm sure she has questions too, but right now my brain isn't working.

All I know: she's due April 20th but thinks it might be sooner. She hasn't had any prenatal care so we might pay for her to have a visit but soon she should be covered by Medicaid. So I don't know if it's a boy or girl. She lives near Tampa which we can drive to.  Can you tell my mind is going in 1000 different directions?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

  • How exciting!!  First of all, know that she is just as nervous as you are..maybe more so.  Just be yourself.  I would just tell her a few things about myself and what you like to do.  Ask her a few things that she likes..tv shows, movies, hobbies...anything to break the ice.  You can ask a few questions about how the pregnancy is going, but I wouldn't focus too much on that the first time you talk.  It may be a bit awkward or you may find out you can't quit talking...both are fine.  Just try to get through it without passing out...just kidding.    Good Luck!!

  • sooooo exciting!!!! I would try to ask very little questions, let her do most of the asking, since the due date is 3 months away you will have tons of time to get more answers (though it will be hard to be patient!) But you don't want to overwhelm her!
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • Congrats and good luck!  Just take a deep breath, and know that you are both going into this wanting to like eachother, and you're both just as nervous as the other!  When it's all over, you'll wonder why you were nervous as all!
