Sleeping & Feeding Questions... opinions are appreciated!

They are still wanting to eat at about every 2 hours... really 2 1/2 hours is the longest they go. They weigh about 10 pounds each and are taking 4 oz in each bottle. My doctor told me to put a couple of teaspoons of rice cereal in bottles when i give them bottles and then after i breast feed offer them another oz with a little rice cereal in it. Will this effect my supply? I could pump after I breastfeed, but it's so hard to give them the bottle, burb both of them, and pump all within a reasonable time frame. WWYD?

Also, I have been reading Healthy Sleep, happy Twins (I'm not through yet) They usually don't get put into the crib before 9:30 @ night, but they do usually sleep in the living room with us between the 7is feeding and the 9ish feeding. Should I be putting them down in the crib even though they will wake up again to eat @ 9:00? All we consistently do for a bedtime routine is swaddle them, give them paci's, and turn on their mobile w/ music. It seems to work for them, but do I need to be doing the same thing every night before I put them in their crib?

 Ugh... so many decisions!

  • I know a few of my friends are putting rice cereal in their baby's bottle to help them get fuller longer, I guess it works!

Do you suppose by them eating longer they are building up your supply or have they always ate like that?  If it's not a big issue for you to nurse every 2 or 2 1/2 hours have you thought of pumping afterward during every feeding or second feeding and by a certain time (let's say 6 pm) you could use the BM that you accumulated during the day and offer it in a bottle with some cereal in it to keep them longer after you've nursed?  That way if you're DH is home he could help with the bottles after you'd be done nursing?  I don't know it seems like A LOT of work on your part though...I don't know if I make any sense at all...I hope so! :)

As far as sleeping once the boys are up for the day they are in the living room area- they nap in their PNP or on the their play mat.  I don't take them in their cribs unless it is to sleep since I don't want them confused sleeping with napping- I'm not really sure what you're routine has been since they've been born...I've been doing it since they were home so they know once they're in their crib it's to sleep and they do STTN since 2 1/2 months.  For bedtime we change them in their sleepers, fresh diapers, swaddle and put the music on :)
