I just recently got offered a new job. The position is a great position in my field (criminal justice) and working from home as a defense contractor. Overall the job would be great, the one hang up is I would have to go for training back east for 12 days. LO will be almost 6 months by the time I go, but I am still facing this huge amount of guilt and stress of leaving LO. My husband works but would be able to take care of her the time I would be gone. Do you think it would be worth being away for almost two weeks for the chance to work from home?

Re: Could you do it?
My baby is two!!! Baby girl 9/17/09
My other baby is still a baby! Baby Boy 11-30-11
It would really suck, but if it was something I really wanted to do, I would try to make it happen.
Good luck!
If the new job would have that many benefits for your family, than yes. Look at the big picture and the future rather than just now.
12 days away equals being home with her all the time! But will the new job really leave you time at home to spend quality time with her or will you be too busy? Working from home is still work!
Lol this for me too!!
YES!!
For what it's worth I just left LO for a week and it was tons easier than I expected. I had to go for training as well and I thought I would be a crying mess. I was actually the opposite, I did have a hard time the first night but after that it felt great getting back into the job mode. DH was able to take care of LO most of the time and my in-laws were back up. It worked out great for all of us and I'm sure it would for you too. Plus you would be working from home!!
YES!!!! IN A SECOND!! I would love to work from home and would do almost anything to do it.
What type of job is this? Just curious. I graduated with a degree in criminology/criminal justice and would love to find something working from home
is this a trick question? YES!!
12 days is gonna feel like forever, but WAH would so be worth it!

My Ovulation Chart
THIS!!!
Yes. Would be an excruciating 12 days, but then you get to work from home. Can your husband and baby come visit for a few days while you're at training?
DH: 31, no issues
4-6/2012 100mg of Clomid + trigger + IUI/TI = BFN
7/2012 150mg of Gonal-f + trigger + IUI = BFN
8/2012 Surprise unmedicated BFP!! Due May 8, 2013
12days -vs- the rest of your life.
It would be an easy choice for me!
This. If DH can stay with her could everyone go?
The training is pretty intense and it a small town in PA with not a lot to do. I think it would be less stressful on everyone for LO to stay at home with my husband where he doesn't have to spend his vacation time in a small hotel room and everyone can keep their routine.
This. Totally. To the infiniti-ith power.
yes definitely.
but also if your DH has vaca time or your mom doesn't work, maybe you could bring her with you with one of them and make a trip out of it.
I pretty much do what you do (background investigations) only it's for a private company and not the govt.
I work from home and I just want to throw this out there. It is VERY hard to work from home and watch a baby. Everyone says it's ideal and they'd kill for the chance, but it's not as great as people think. My job is deadline based and my employer coudn't care less that I had a baby (why should they?). It us hard to juggle taking care of my baby and working. Of course, the baby comes first and it is showing in my work. I just said to my H tonight that we are going to have to come up with another plan. Imagine working in your out of the home office and having your baby there with you the whole time. It can be done. I just get bothered when people think it's the perfect situation.
If its a good job then yeah, i would do it. but with daycare lined up -
i am surprised at how many people think working from home = hanging out with LO all day. i cant work and watch a baby and if i tried to convince work that i could, they'd laugh in my face. i do work from home and its great because there is no commute, i can breastfeed, and my schedule is flexible BUT i have someone here watching the babies.
that said, after having worked from home, i would find it very difficult to go back to the office. it definitely is more comfortable.
