Toddlers: 24 Months+

oooh my blood is boiling! The nerve of some people.

So I have a FB friend who is adopting a son from Ethiopia. Her family does a TON to help children in the US and around the world, donating their time and money.

Today she posted on FB, status update:

HUGE NEED: J*** and I are going to be investing in an orphanage in Kombolcha, Ethiopia. The children are in DIRE need of people willing to step up and sponsor them at $34 a month for a year. They have no food, children eating grass they are so hungry. They have not had visitors in 8 YEARS until CHC just showed up. Please contact me asap for more info if interested!!

Some moron had the nerve to respond:

I think its great you guys are trying to make a difference in another country but we have children in our own country that needs homes and food.

Seriously?!!!! She handled it very well, but F-off girl! She obviously knows nothing about what this family does for others and has no place posting it like that. It just made me really mad that someone who does so much for children needs to defend her actions! Angry

BTW, her response was awesome ;) Especially the part I bolded! "Luckily in the US the government has countless programs and efforts that prevent children from dying from starvation and lack of water, as opposed to the millions of children in Africa that die from this. The US does not have children dying from lack of clean water.
And for what its worth, its not just "another country" its the country our son is ... See Morefrom. I am glad you have a heart for the people in the US,and I hope you are doing something about it. J*** and I work with foster kids here, maybe you should look into something like that if you don't already."

  • she's awesome... in so many ways!  maybe she should stay friends with him/her to continue alerting him or her to the needs of children here and all over the world.
  • She handled that extremely well.  I am impressed, I would've went off.

  • she did handle it well <3 good for her. but its a hot spot for some people (adopting outside the US). so just as she has a heart for ethipoia and its problems - many people get riled up about not having the help we need here, kwim? that was just not the way for him to say it - or the place.

Wonder if thats the same douchebag that responded to my aunts fb post recently. My aunt made a comment about helping people out in Haiti and feeling horrible for what they are going through. The douchebag told my aunt we need to be worrying about the people here in the US. I went off on the douchebag. What's so ironic is that the douchebag is on welfare and barely takes care of her own kids. She must have been worried losing some of her "free" help. ugh! I was not so nice to her in my reply.
