Did anyone watch this new show ? Basic premise is that girl gets pregnant at winter formal, places baby for adoption .... baby is not adopted because she needs heart surgery and is 3 when she's done with everything, baby bounces around from horrid foster family to horrid foster family. Finds birth parents to try and get their signatures to emancipate her so she doesn't have to be in foster care anymore. Judge won't emancipate... and they end up with temp joint custody of the now 15 yr. old kid. Actually 16 at the end as the show incorporated her birthday.
IDK it really kind of bothered me the way they portrayed "Kate" the birth mom as some irresponsible horrid person who didn't want to take responsibility for her actions and left her daughter all alone with no one to love her. Personally I think birthparents should be given more credit for their selfless act of trying to do the best for the children even when it will be hard for them. IDK just seemed to perpetuate some neg. stereotypes. I mean I realize it's a TV show... but it just sorta rubbed me the wrong way...
Re: Life Unexpected - Did you watch ?
I didn't watch it at all, but it's loosely (and from your description I would say very very loosely) based on the creator's life:

And secondly, can I say how depressing it is to me that someone born in 1994 is old enough to have this storyline? It makes me feel very old.
That is the very first thing that popped into my mind when I read the year of the girl's birth in this post! I was in high school in 1994, so the mom in this show could be me. And the thought that it would be possible for me to have a teenager makes me feel very old.
