how do you keep your diaper bag organized?

I feel like my diaper bag is overloaded and not at all organized. I am always digging or having to pull everything out to find the one thing I am looking for. My bag only has one main compartment, and a couple little side pockets (I use that for my own stuff - cell phone, keys, etc.)

How do you keep it all neat and organized?

  • A bag with multiple pockets is a must. I put her diapers and wipes in one, change of clothes in another, bibs and burp cloths in a zipper compartment, bottles in an outside pocket and formula dipsenser and a couple of toys in the main compartment. I also keep my stuff separate in my own small purse. I never find myself rooting around for stuff.

  • I'm curious to see what others write because I feel the same way you do.  I've seen the changing "kits" that hold a few diapers, wipes, changing pad and diaper cream.  But I'm sick of my bottle and formula floating around.  I've been looking at the Diaper Dude (Diaper Diva for girls) bags because they seem to have more compartments that zip.
  • The bag I send to daycare is bigger than the one I use. The outside zipper pocket has stuff like diaper rash cream, lotion, thermometer, baby tylenol, etc. Inside I have a stack of diapers, plastic thing of wipes, couple blankies, bibs, change of clothes and a few toys. I have a little lunchbag I put her bottles, fruit and bowl in and I toss that in the diaper bag, too.

omg - your DD is the cutest thing ever!  (we have that kitty outfit, too)

I have 3 diaper bags (all were gifts) that don't have multiple pockets. I'd really like to be able to use them and make them work. Maybe I need to get some clear plastic zippered bags? I'm determined to get organized this week before I go back to work!

  • Ziplock bags are my best friend.  I use an oversized Coach purse for my diaper bag and have ziplock bags for everything, diapers in one, extra clothes for DD and and extra shirt in another.  I also have a change pad with a pocket attached for wipes.
