I just started a new job a little less than three months ago. By the time we start our cycle, I'll have been there about five months. It seems like a very family-friendly and flexible org, but I'm still at a loss as to what I'm going to say when I start cycling and have to come in late/miss several days of work. I have a flexible schedule, but it's going to be in the middle of our busiest time of the year. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of choice--as our RE said, it's pretty much now or never.
So should I be vague and just say I have a medical issue? Should I give my boss more detail than that? My boss is somewhat of a no-nonsense kind of person and doesn't have kids so I don't know if she's going to be understanding about IVF or not. I'd appreciate any advice here.
Edit: I forgot to add, SAIFW!
Re: IVF and Work...
I would say that you have a medical issue that you have to take care of. It's not life threatening but is time sensitive. Your RE should be able to give you a doctor's note that doesn't specifically say infertility etc. (My RE offered me a note on hospital letterhead.)
Good luck!
Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!
TTC #2
After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
"You could let her know that you have a non life threatening condition that will require you to be late or miss a few days on short notice. "
exactly this. Be ready to provide documentation from your RE if they need it.
