How did you introduce LO to daycare?

DS is going to start DC Feb 1. He has been with my SIL 4x a week and my mom 1x. My SIL is  having her 3rd child so it would just be too much for her and I think DC will be good for him.

I was thinking I would take him in maybe one afternoon and stay with him and let him check it out and then stay with him the first day?

How did you handle this?

dh and i took him one afternoon and let him play for about an hour.  the next day he did a half day, the third day he started going the whole day.

The week before DS was to officially start, I took him for half days Wed-Fri.  I never stayed with him though.  I just took him for about four hours a day before he started going full-time.

my DS is younger but the first day he only went for 3 hrs.  We stayed for a while at the beginning to talk to the teachers, see how he would be, but we did leave.  The second day he went for a full day but DH went to visit him during his lunch break.  

our daycare has a webcam so I can always watch during the day which I like.  GL.

The week before DS started daycare I went in two or three times with him and played with the toys, the other kids, the teachers, etc.  Honestly, this was more for me than for him.  It really made me comfortable with our choice of daycare provider and I saw how happy the other kids were.  The first time I left him there was my first day back to work.  I did call a few times the first few days to check on him.

For me, the transition was way harder for me than for DS.  He was only 3 months old at the time, though, so that probably makes it a little different.
