Hi all,
Some of you may have read my posts today. I am new to the infertility posts. I have known that I have PCOS since I was 12. Among other things, (as many of you may well know) it's caused a few issues.
My husband has had an "SA" a few weeks ago and all is well. Am I weird to be bummed? I was hoping it was his swimmers that were drowning.
Anyways, the next step my GYN says is a hysterosalpingogram. (THAT was hard to pronounce to my insurance company). Anyone had one? DO they hurt? Just uncomfortable?
I got my GYN to write me a scrip for Xananx. Bummer is it's only ONE.
If you have any experience or suggestions I welcome them with open arms! I had an extremely painful cervical biopsy once and I"m not looking forward to someone pooking around in there again.
My apt. is at 11:30am tomorrow--EEK!
THANKS!

Re: Hysterosa. . . eh hem . . .Hysterosalpingo . . .HSG.
not going to lie, mine was pretty awful. I have cervical stenosis (probably left over from a LEEP I had in college) and it made the whole thing very uncomfortable.
Some girls don't even feel the HSG though. GL!
I'm sorry about your diagnosis and that the second response to your post is also not very reassuring. The pain medication should take care of it.
I didn't have the best experience but it didn't really hurt or I didn't notice, I passed out and had sort of a seizure, but they forgot to give me the pain medication and my left tube didn't spill.
Now I've heard (and read) from many women that is no big deal for them.
Good luck!

CRAP, CRAP, CRAP.
I appreciate both of you being honest!
I had a colposcopy done about 2004. (Which is what I was referring to above). It sucked. I sat i the room and cried for a while. I hope this is better--if not, I'll live. And hopefully it will give me valuable insight into our fertility problems.
Moreover, I just hope the Xanax kicks in.

After 7 rounds of clomid and HcG, Three failed IUI's with an ectopic pregnancy, two shots of methotrextate, ER visits, breaks, low (3%) morphology One IVF cycle (lupron, gonal-F) that ended in another ectopic, more methotrexate, A Lap to disconnect both tubes, remove endo and a hydrosalphinx, . . .we are finally expecting TWINS from FET#1!
1.11. 2011: Beginning FET cycle!
3.11.11- FET! (DH's birthday!) 2 blasts transfered!
3.20.11- BETA #1 BFP!!! 272! (9dp5dt)
3.23.11- BETA #2 1346!!! (12dp5dt)
4.8.11- U/S #1. . TWINS!!! . . .TWO BOYS!
9.10.11-My beautiful Boys arrive unexpectedly at 28 weeks, 6 days.
My HSG was painful - like very intense menstrual cramps. But that being said, it didn't last very long - less than 2 minutes. I was able to drive myself and go back to work afterwards.
Good luck!
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
Mine wasn't that bad. The only thing that really felt uncomfortable was when the dye was injected, but it was only about 10 seconds. I also took 4 Advil about an hour before hand.
Good luck to you. I hope the anxiety about it is much worse than the actual HSG itself.
After 5.5 years of loss, heartbreak, and empty arms, our dreams were fulfilled through the beautiful, selfless gift of adoption. We are amazingly blessed!

I took two OTC pain killers an hour before the procedure and again after, and it really wasn't so bad, though my tubes were pretty open. Mine felt like very very bad cramps, and the procedure was fairly quick. It was much easier than either of my colposcopies. After the procedure I went directly to work with no problem, although I had a backup R+R plan in case I didn't feel so good (previously, I felt pretty poorly after a cryosurgery).
Bring a pad of your choice or you may walk out with a grandma maxi. And GOOD LUCK!
You ladies rock!
Thanks so very much for the insight.
It went pretty well this morning. My 'DH' took me to breakfast before hand and we stopped for a fresh veggie juice at our local co-op afterwards.
The worst part was that my GYN was about an hour late. So I had to sit there and freak-out as my Xanax wore-off. Bummer.
During, . . . uncomfortable yes. But I wanted to see it happen on the screen so I decided to tough it out. I agree though. . . I grabbed the table when they inserted the dye!
All looked "normal" though!
. . . . so what's the problem!?!?!?!?!
